Ask me one question - any one - about my writing, then post this in your LJ so I can satisfy my curiosity about yours.

YOU LISTEN TO E NOMINE. YOU WIN.

/random.

What is your favorite thing you've ever written and why?
Least favorite?

(I cheated and asked two. ^^)

I DO listen to E Nomine, and yes, I DO win. XD

Favorite thing ever?
Non-fanfic-wise, I'd have to go with my senior thesis that I wrote in order to escape Northland College. Fifty-seven pages, annotated, over-researched, over-edited, slaved-over, reworked a dozen times, defended against one of the scariest little French women on the planet, and...UNFINISHED. @_@ I busted my ass on that thing, hardcore, only to be told by said scary French woman that fantasy was a genre for children and that, in order to make this work, I either needed to make the story smarter/harder for adults or else simplify it for kids. >.< (I don't think she understands the genre of fantasy here in America at all.)
Still, I pulled a B+ on it...

Of my fanfic, I have to say that "Eclipse" (http://www.livejournal.com/users/lykomancer/21961.html) wins.
I won it in a white hazy a year ago, hitting the keys in a blur and barely knowing what I was punching out. It was late, and finally, I kicked out what I thought was a terrible ending line, posted it in my LJ and went to bed.
I woke up to find my friend and fellow writer's love for it, and I reread it. Wow! I thought. This isn't bad. In fact, it's actually quite good! Elanivalae threw it Sol's way, and that's how I ended up getting archived on Scimitar Smile, which was, at the time, the prime elite fanfiction galleria par excellence, so I was really pleased.

However, what makes "Eclipse" so good is the way it works with the end of the series, Envy's origins, and his relationship to Ed, NONE or which I knew when I wrote it. (It was written around the time episode 25 aired in Japan.) A few people were a little weirded out when I first posted it, because I used Envy in opposition to Ed's gold and light-- commonsense at the time ruled that AL was clearly the other side of Ed, not this weird-ass nonhuman, violent, barely-even-any-screen-time villain.
Y'know, I got one thing to say to that now:
PWNED, children! LMFAO!
I rule!
The end of the series itself wraps into the symbolism I used for the characters I employed, perfectly. It's like I knew or something. ^_^
I like the symbolism so much I've reused some in "The Passion" (http://www.livejournal.com/community/envy_x_ed/22545.html), which is also one of my favorites.

As for what I don't like...
Hm. I don't think most of my drabbles are that great, and I don't like the Envy's softness in "To Thine Own Self" (http://www.livejournal.com/users/lykomancer/52771.html)-- I would like, in some ways, to go back into that and "rough" him up-- reassert his hatred and rage and sadism.
I really detest most of my Roy/Ed stuff... I'm just so not a fan of the pairing, possibly because it is everywhere and had flooded the community from the get-go, and I don't think I hit on anything original with them, not like I can with my Envy/Ed fics. Yeah, I don't care for "Check" (http://www.livejournal.com/users/lykomancer/61258.html) all that much at all...

Least favorite nonfanfic... *laughs* Too many contenders from all my writing assignments in college.

WAIT.
UNIFISHIED WHY?
What was the thesis on?
I don't understand things like that, but then again - I didn't do college yet. XD
...how old are you, anyway?
Just curious. ^^

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH FRENCH PEOPLE!?
That's really irritating. I'd have cried. Then I'd have gone back in there and gone OFF. >_O

Still, I pulled a B+ on it...

Well, that's not too bad, then. ^^

THAT IS REALLY FANTASTIC.
And no hate even. O_o
BRAVO. <3

I woke up to find my friend and fellow writer's love for it, and I reread it. Wow! I thought. This isn't bad. In fact, it's actually quite good! I've heard EVERYONE wants to get into SS.
Guess what?
Me? I don't care about that sort of thing. Never gonna happen anyway, so I don't stress. I don't write enough for something like that to matter.
BUT IT'S AN AWESOME FIC. <3

However, what makes "Eclipse" so good is the way it works with the end of the series, Envy's origins, and his relationship to Ed, NONE or which I knew when I wrote it.

Then MORE points for you.
The two chapters of Sun, Moon, and Stars I have up were written after seeing episode 3 and looking at fanart LIEKWHOA.
So I was SURE the characterization was off. Everyone assures me otherwise. O_o

I don't think Envy could be something like "the other side of Ed" but I do like what you did with the fic.
I have a REALLY defined sense of what I think, pairing-wise, though, so that's just how I am. XD

[...]
I rule!

XD
YOU DO.

The end of the series itself wraps into the symbolism I used for the characters I employed, perfectly. It's like I knew or something. ^_^

OMG.
I have a huge question about that now, but I WILL NOT ask in journals.
Because it's how I am.
AIM me sometime?
You might find me on the name ShnyShnyShuichi lately...

I like the symbolism so much I've reused some in "The Passion", which is also one of my favorites.

*will read later*

Again, will read later. <3
But I LIKE YOUR DRABBLES SO THERE. ^^

I really detest most of my Roy/Ed stuff... [...]

I know it's everywhere, but it OWNS ME, as you know.
Although I can't really do anything superoriginal with them either, so I MUCH prefer Roy/Ed/Al because it's NOT Roy/Ed and it's NOT Roy/Al and the dynamic actually changes LIEKWHOA from each pairing to the threesome.
*babbles incessantly*

Least favorite nonfanfic... *laughs* Too many contenders from all my writing assignments in college.

*laugh*
I'd NEVAR take a writing class because I'd hate myself every time I did anything for it.
I also hate writing on demand. XP

UNFINISHED WHY?

It's unfinished because I only had a semester to write it, and I realized around the middle of my alloted time that it was simply too huge of a story for me to complete in less that 13 weeks; I was able to turn it in as unfinished (with a five page outline of the ending) due to the good graces of my professors. And then since I stopped having to write on it, I dropped the thing like a rock; I was so tired of looking at it, working on it, editing it, researching for it... I just needed a break.
That was over a year ago. I still haven't picked it back up; I'm afriad to. I'm terrified if I look at it, I'm going to want to completely rewrite it from scratch, and I think of all the fucking work I put into it and...

I'm 24. ^_^ My birthdate is March 6th.

I've heard EVERYONE wants to get into SS.
Me? I don't care about that sort of thing. Never gonna happen anyway, so I don't stress. I don't write enough for something like that to matter.

Actually, I'll tell you that no one's going to be getting on SS. Sol's finally dropping it. I got an email from her a few weeks back about that.

I also hate writing on demand. XP

Sometimes, it's the only way I can force myself to write. If no one's waiting for it, if nothing-- like my grade-- depends on it, then stuff just doesn't get written. *shrugs* All I write on my own, outside of class assignments, is all fanfic, and the only reason I even bother writing that is because I get comments from people and encouragements.
Yeah, I'm a comment whore.
