Holy. Shit.

And further: With the extended holiday hours and general insanity of the holidays, we don't get out until super late. Like, tonight we clocked out ten minutes before midnight. And at that time of night, the buses aren't running or have extremely limited schedules.

At what point am I allowed to call in due to extreme cold? I mean, my lack of car means I'm standing out in this shit. If I did have a car, it might not even start in this weather. WTF.

(Yes, it usually gets this bitterly cold in MN in the winter. But usually not until late January to mid February. This cold this early in the season is insane...and I'm dreading what it's going to be like later.)

Yesterday, when I went in to work, it was almost warm-feeling-- no wind, lots of moisture in the air, higher temperature.
When I got out, it was dry, windy, and *points up* balls-to-the-wall cold.

I wasn't dressed for that much of a temperature shift. If Pepper hadn't risked the roads to pick me up from the train, I'd have been waiting outside for over 45 minutes in that. JESUS.

I... I don't know, but I would check in about that, because that's a serious danger to your health and safety. O_o;;

My God, my God, unless you've felt a windchill that cold, you can't even imagine it.

Whenever I read Jack London's "To Build a Fire" now, I shudder.

Ouch. No matter how cold it is here in Kansas I keep telling myself how much worse it is for people on the northern plains. And I can see how this is a particularly bad time for it.

Reminds me of that time I went dogsledding and the entire lower half of my face was covered in frost by the time the run was over.

Winter is so not my friend anymore.
